Designed for Versatility and Precision
The Vertex is a modular two-axis ultrasonic scanner engineered for high-precision corrosion mapping versatile design make it ideal for surfaces from 3″ OD to flat.
Designed for Precision and Versatility
The Vertex platform from ScanTech delivers the adaptability field teams need when switching between assets and materials. Its two-axis encoded motion enables full raster coverage, while modular components—such as front and side raster arms—allow rapid reconfiguration without tools.
The system supports magnetic or chain drive mounting, covering both ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. Drive units achieve speeds up to 5in/sec on the drive unit and 30 in/sec on the raster arm, ensuring efficient data capture without sacrificing resolution.
Compact dimensions—10.5″ L × 7.5″ W × 5.0″ H and roughly 15 lb—make the Vertex ideal for tight or elevated access points, helping inspection teams deploy faster and work safer.

The Challenge of Multi-Geometry Inspections
Most scanners require multiple reconfigurations or separate systems for each, which adds setup time and training overhead.
The Vertex solves this with a universal modular frame that adapts to various geometry in minutes. Tool-less attachments and standardized connection points reduce component swaps, while a single operator can perform corrosion mapping.
This modular approach simplifies logistics and ensures that every inspection meets quality and repeatability standards.
Adaptive Configuration Without Resetting
- Front Raster Arm: For surfaces with diameters ≥ 6″ OD
- Side Raster Arm: For surfaces down to 3″ OD.
- Magnetic or Chain Drive Mounts for all Surfaces: Allows secure operation on coated, uncoated, and non-ferrous surfaces.
- Quick-Release Modules: Enable fast conversion from one job to the next.
Precision Engineering for Reliable Data
Every component of the Vertex supports exceptional data integrity:
- Rigid Dovetail Probe Yoke: Maintains probe alignment for consistent coupling.
- Anti-Tip Assembly: Keeps the probe perpendicular to the surface during scanning.
- Constant-Force Spring Mechanism: Ensures even pressure across all geometries.
- Sealed Bearings and Encoder Housing: Protects motion systems in harsh environments.
Seamless Data Integration
The Vertex integrates directly with ScanTech’s Analyst XR™ Software for attaining the highest quality C-Scan images. It’s also compatible with third-party phased-array instruments, making this a great ultrasonic scanner option.
- Analyst XR™: For automated corrosion mapping with built-in B31G algorithm.
- Batt Pack Pro: Portable control systems powering encoded scanning in the field without the need for AC mains power.
