Start with your application
Surface material, geometry and access determine how the scanner attaches and moves. Start here, then compare the platforms below.
Plan around pipe diameter, axial or circumferential travel, supports and nearby piping.
Match scan width and attachment to surface curvature, coverage area and repositioning needs.
Account for vessel geometry, access restrictions and the condition of the inspection surface.
Explore your options
Compare each scanner’s approach, then confirm the configuration for your inspection procedure.
Automated raster scanning
A dedicated raster scanning option for ultrasonic corrosion mapping on compatible pipe, tank and vessel surfaces.
Steerable modular platform
A configurable platform for teams that need corrosion mapping and inline B-scanning capabilities.
Modular two-axis scanning
A two-axis platform with attachment and raster arm options for different inspection setups.
Chain-based pipe scanning
A corrosion mapping configuration of the CLIX modular chain platform for pipe inspection.

Check the fit
A scanner needs to fit your asset and work with your inspection equipment. Confirm these details before selecting a system.
01
Magnetic attachment or a chain-based system?
02
Confirm limits for axial or circumferential scanning.
03
Include the scanner, probe, arm and cable movement.
04
Compare performance at your required sampling interval.
05
Confirm the controller, encoder and software connections.
From scan path to thickness map
A corrosion mapping scanner connects ultrasonic measurements to positions across an inspection area. A thickness C-scan displays that information in a plan view.
Common questions
It moves an ultrasonic probe across a surface while tracking position. A compatible instrument and software pair the measurements with their locations to create a map of the inspected area.
A B-scan provides a cross-sectional view along a scan path. A C-scan provides a plan view across an area. A thickness C-scan shows how remaining wall thickness varies across that area.
Some configurations support both. Suitability depends on attachment, probe assembly, scan direction and geometry. Confirm these requirements for the selected configuration.
Scan area, sampling interval, probe coverage, acquisition settings, surface preparation and repositioning affect total inspection time.
